About Jobs for Nature
A matching platform that links funders with organisations doing paid nature work, and shows the evidence for each match.
Jobs for Nature and SEF
The Social Employment Fund (SEF) pays implementation partners to create work for unemployed people. Much of that work cares for nature: clearing alien plants, protecting springs, testing rivers and cleaning up waste.
SEF money pays wages. Other funders could pay for more of this work, or for the things wages do not cover. Jobs for Nature (a working name) helps them find partners that fit.
This site is a demo. It has one implementation partner, DUCT, and three illustrative funder profiles.
How matching works
- Place. We count the partner's work sites inside the catchments you chose. If you chose no catchment, we use provinces.
- Activity. We list the interests you share with the partner, each with a reported result, its source and its page.
- Requirements. Each funding route needs certain evidence. We add the evidence you asked for and check each item against the partner's readiness checklist.
- Fit label. The first rule that applies sets the label:
- Fit: Not a match
No site inside the chosen catchments (or provinces, if no catchment chosen), or no shared interest.
- Fit: Weak for now
Any blocking requirement is Missing.
- Fit: Strong
Two or more shared interests and no requirement or evidence need is Missing.
- Fit: Promising, needs evidence
Everything else.
For the three illustrative presets, the match text was written and checked by hand. For other answers, the text is generated from the same rules. In the full platform, a reviewer approves each generated match before a funder sees it.
Evidence levels
- Reported
Stated by the implementation partner in its reports to SEF.
- Payroll-backed
Counted from SEF payroll (Kwantu) records.
- Verified
Checked by an independent party. No DUCT result is at this level yet.
